Demand patience from Christians
The President of the Christian Association of Nigeria, Rev. Dr. Samson O.A Ayokunle has urged all Christian leaders to adhere to measures put in place in line with Federal Government directives for religious houses to remain closed.
In a press statement released on the 22nd of May, 2020 the CAN leader demonstrated the impatience in reopening of churches all over Nigeria which could bring a total widespread of the covid-19 virus.
“Distinguished Church Leaders and Fellow Saints, I thank you all on behalf of Christian Association of Nigeria for your patience over the unavoidable closure of worship premises and your faithful compliance with all the rules laid down by the Nigeria Centre on Disease Control (NCDC) in order to curtail the spread of COVID-19 pandemic. We are equally grateful to the Federal and State governments for their efforts at controlling the spread of this killer disease. We shall overcome it in Jesus’ name. The relaxation of the lockdown by the federal and state governments, though highly clamoured by some quarters, due to the debilitating effects of the lockdown, the overall interest of the entire nation should not be compromised.” He said.
The CAN president further made it known that the rate of infected people in the country could be extremely dangerous if worship centers are opened
“The above observations notwithstanding, we urge that all churches remain closed because of the unduly rate of infected people in Nigeria dangerous for the survival of all of us. Remember the Bible passages that say, “The prudent see danger and take refuge. But the simple keep going and pay the penalty. (Proverbs 223, 27: 12 NKJV).
